Penny Shanahan To All Instructors
My name is Penny Shanahan.
I’m a retired elementary school teacher who taught 31.5 years in the Walled Lake Consolidated School District.
Before that, I was a substitute teacher for all grades including preschool through adult
education in surrounding districts. I received my teaching degree from Northern Michigan University, and my Master’s
Degree from Eastern Michigan University. Then my "plus 30" at various colleges.
I’m currently a reading interventionist in the Walled Lake School district, as well as an
academic success coach for high school students at the Athlete Academy in Farmington
Hills. I’m also a private tutor for elementary math, reading, and writing.
My husband and I have a daughter named Callie, who is a Senior at Boston University
who will be graduating May 2025.
Outside of teaching, some of my favorite activities include: working out, wake surfing,
singing, yoga, Zumba, walking, traveling, reading, cooking, and spending time with
family and friends.
I look forward to helping your child learn, grow, and have fun!
